Bill McManus, LCSW-R has comprehensive experience working as a psychotherapist in both private practice and outpatient mental health clinics. Bill has worked with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, loss, separation, breakups, mid-life issues, jealousy, low self-esteem, lack of trust, anger, unsatisfactory relationships, addictions, and obsessional thinking and constant intrusive thoughts. Part of Bill’s philosophy involves working with individuals to understand their concerns in an effort to help them learn how to manage, reduce and/or eliminate them.
Bill is a New York University alumnus and a graduate of the Training Institute for Mental Health which provides advanced training in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. Bill’s experience informs him in working analytically and from a problem-solving perspective. His approach is goals-oriented and he sees therapy as a process for change and not just a process of gaining insight. Career counseling is another specialty in Bill’s practice.
Karen Nelson, LCSW has comprehensive experience working as a psychotherapist in both private practice and outpatient mental health clinics. Karen has worked with adolescents, adults, senior citizens, and with support groups focused on wide variety of difficulties. She specializes in working with adults who are in unhealthy relationships, who have recognized unhealthy relationship patterns, and/or who are dealing with anxiety and depression, trauma, LGBTQ issues, sexuality and identity, grief and loss, low self-esteem, addictions, destructive behaviors, and obsessive and compulsive behavior or thinking.
Karen has been described as warm, humorous, thoughtful, sensitive, and easy to talk to. Karen draws upon eclectic modalities: psychoanalytic, insight oriented, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, mindfulness practices, and systems perspectives. She is committed to identify, encourage, and value your strengths and support you in improving your relationships to live a fuller, more satisfying life.
Karen is a Smith College School for Social Work alumnus and is a graduate of the Training Institute for Mental Health, where she has earned a post-graduate certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.
